My mum was a comper.
This was someone who, back in the day, entered as many competitions as she could. My dad worked shifts, and back then, the tv channels were limited, so she got stuck into competitions in the evening when I was in bed.
Can you imagine how popular I was at school when my mum won the whole of the top 10 records?
